The painting was done on site, as part of a series of Florida coastal scenes. The St. Augustine light is, in my view, the most beautiful of the surviving lighthouses along the Southern Atlantic coast.

Herschel Pollard was born in 1938. He has been an artist throughout his life, though he also pursues other endeavors. He resides with his family at his Montlake studio in Tennessee.
